Karst & visiting Lipizzaner horses

Sistiana

Arrival to Sistiana, afternoon walk to Castello di Duino along the famous Rilke trail or a swim in the sea. Overnigh with breakfast in Sistiana.

Sistiana – Prosecco

This stage leads into the interior or the harsh Karst region and offers charming views over the gulf of Trieste. Overnight with half board in Villa Opicina.

Stage 34 – difficulty: moderate, 23,8 km, 6:45 h

Prosecco – Lipica

The Karst region hides a variety of magnificent hidden caves, some of which you pass along this stage. At the end we look forward to seeing the snow-white Lipizzaner horses. Overnight with half board in Lipica.

Stage 35 – difficulty: moderate, 20,6 km, 6:00 h
 

Lipica (rest day)

Make the best of the rest day in Lipica and explore the Lipica Stud Farm. Get to know the Lipizzaner horses up close and watch a show or official training by the Lipica Riding School. Overnight with half board in Lipica.
 

Lipica – Bagnoli di Rosandra

From Lipica the stage sets off again along the Karst, taking us through the beautiful Val Rosandra, a nature reserve marked by its natural and cultural beauties. Overnight with breakfast in Bagnoli della Rosandra.

Stage 36 – difficulty: moderate, 17,3 km, 6:00 h
 

Bagnoli di Rosandra – Muggia

With great anticipation of the Adriatic Sea, we set off on the last stage of the Alpe Adria Trail, which will lead us to the end point in Muggia. Overnight with in breakfast in Muggia.

Stage 37 – difficulty: moderate, 23,7 km, 7:00 h

Muggia – Trieste – Sistiana

Return journey possible by train from Trieste to Sistiana or with a private shuttle upon request.
